Hello 2016

I cannot believe it is already 2016 and almost through the entire first week! Time just keeps flying by faster and faster! I am sure that you feel the same way!

Charles and I are looking forward to a great ministry year ahead. We believe that God has big things in store for Charles and Spring Ministries and are praying about some big things. We also hope to continue to have open doors at new churches and hope to begin to have other opportunities as well.

In November, we had a ministry booth at the Tennessee Baptist Convention. We also were able to finish getting new promotional materials completed along with a great new promo video thanks to Jeff Thompson of First Baptist, Jackson.  The convention was a wonderful time to get to know and meet some great pastors and church leaders. It was also a huge reminder of the great need for the message that God has laid on our hearts to share about His truth for our daily lives both in the good times and the challenging times. (Our ministry booth’s image was greatly improved, thanks to a Godly, faithful and very creative friend, Mitzi Seals).

As far as our family is concerned – we have had some big changes.

Just 6 months ago, our lives mostly revolved around just “us” and our crazy life. It was rich, full, crazy and hectic. But from day one of our marriage we have prayed about children and even more recently really prayed that God would use our home for His glory to provide a home for anyone who needed it.

In August, we very quickly came upon the opportunity to house an exchange student. They were in desperate need for host homes and so we took the plunge. We not only have one exchange student but we decided to accept two students! From the time that we originally considered and prayed about the idea, to the time the first student arrived, it was only a little over 2 weeks! We got prepared quickly – a big thanks to my parents who just happened to be in town just at the right time!

We have had a great time being host parents. Charles and I have been able to spend a lot of time with them. Charles has been teaching them how to cook and all sorts of things.

They even all worked together on learning how to refinish our dining room table!

We have been to football games with them, and watched movies like Luther and played many many games. It has been really fun.

An opportunity to really invest. Ju Min is from South Korea. He very smart, and always has a big smile on his face and is true servant, always willing to help when needed. Jerry is from China and is very smart as well and very studious and polite. We have made many memories together.

Then, in the middle of October, we had an opportunity come our way that we never really expected. Charles and I have always talked about adoption, regardless if we had our own kids or not and so far despite our efforts, we haven’t had our own kids, with really no clear explanation. So when the opportunity arose for us to possibly adopt some twins that were due to be born at the end of November, it wasn’t a complete shock, but in reality it really was. Just this past May, we had attended an adoption class at church led some by some of the dearest people, Fonsie and Lesley,  just to start the process if we ever wanted to adopt in the future. That class led us to read the book Adopted for Life by Russel Moore. This book was remarkably great at communicating a biblical understanding of what adoption really is. We had slowly began to peck away at the book throughout the summer.

But it was just this floating dream.

But the dream really did become a reality.

To our dismay, and still looking back it still almost feels surreal. We now have 2 precious 6 week old infants in our home. We are still in the process of adopting them legally because they have to be in our custody for 6 months, but that is where we are.

Wait, what?

Yes, we are adopting twins.

I wish and hopefully one day soon I will be able to tell you all the fine and small print details of what all occurred during this time. But all I know is that God spoke to us greatly, in huge ways, and in a still small voice through scripture so that we would know His will. He brought together so many details and used so many people. We are still not quite sure why God chose us specifically for them, but we know He did. And we are deeply humbled by that. And God has provided for them in so many ways over the last several weeks.

Everything went smoother than you can even imagine.

And our “rich, full, busy and hectic” and crazy life that we had 6 months ago – seems boring with the zoo that we have going on now! LoL!

The Lord has been so good to us and we are excited about what the future has in store for us, for Jerry, for Ju Min and the twins in 2016!

Let us know how you are doing! We love to get updates, let us know how we can pray for you and let’s commit to giving God all that we have, not just in word but in deed.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Charles, Spring, Jerry, Ju Min, Charlie and Londie
